hello by Orkut Buyukkokten, a network built on passions, launches in Brazil

July 19th is the official release date of Hello Network's social mobile app in Portuguese that connects people with communities based on their interests.

Over 100 thousand Brazilians have been waiting to download hello from the App Store and on Google Play.

Orkut Buyukkokten is a wizard of social networks. Before smartphones were even a dream and people had to join forums to chat, he created and launched orkut.com, in 2004, a social network that gathered more than 300 million users worldwide. Now Orkut is back in great style: launching hello a network built for passions and exclusively designed for mobile, that promises to bring people together in a place where they can share their interests and connect in a very welcoming and respectful atmosphere.

"I believe the world is a better place when we get to know each other a little better. I love connecting people with technology and unlocking new possibilities because life is beautiful and we can never celebrate it enough. hello is the first social network built on loves, not likes. I want hello to be a community where everyone feels welcomed and included and no one feels judged. I want you to make new friends on hello who you genuinely care about in the real world", says Orkut.

According to Orkut, despite the existence of so many social networks, communications between people have become fragmented and empty. With a lack of interaction users often end up tired and lonely, being in thousands of groups or discussions with no purpose. "hello was built with a human focused design, based on universal human needs. Its personas were created on human passions, the main things we care about".

hello in Brazil

As people need and want new ways of interaction, hello's launch in Brazil on July 19th couldn’t come at a better moment: with political, economic and social crises, Brazilians seem to be tired of disagreements on their networks and, at the same time, afraid to express their true feelings.

Orkut himself believes that the similarities between orkut.com and hello will attract Brazilians. The concept of personas, an evolution of what communities were in orkut.com, the possibility of easily making new friends, and great visual and intuitive navigation are some of the highlights. “hello was built to create true and authentic interactions and was designed to be simple, beautiful, peaceful. hello unites the best of all social networks. Brazilians today still share great memories of their orkut.com times and the friends they made. Therefore, I’m positive hello will be well received in this warm and open country” says Orkut.

Exclusively designed for Brazil: Olympics Fan Persona

This launch in Brazil meets a historic moment: with the Olympic games coming on August 5th in Rio de Janeiro, the Brazilian version of hello is coming with an exclusive persona (Olympics Fan) as well as some specific sports such as volleyball, that have huge followings in Brazil.

hello was launched in past weeks in U.S ,Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, England and France. As of July 14th, more than 100 thousand Brazilians have signed up to download the app as soon as it is available in Portuguese on iOS and Android. hello currently supports iOS 8 and beyond, and Lollipop and Marshmallow on Android. The app will soon support Android versions KitKat and Jelly Bean.
